Gettin better all the time…

Park Creek is finally pretty decent again. On Thursday, groomer Jadius the younger got there early to beat the warm weather and used the drag on all trails including larkspur. He didn’t use the Ginzu at all for fear of getting it stuck in the soft snow so there are no classic tracks, but the trails are pretty good all things considered. At Alturas, Old Davinius added classic tracks on the east side trails that Chadeus had laid down on Wednesday. On Friday, Chadeus will attempt to break through the deep drifts to the west of the creek and push on through to the lake. May the gods be with him.

Funky clumpy…

Valiant effort by Chadeus to groom trails at Alturas on Wednesday did compact them further but sticky wet snow resulted in clumpy funky surface. Passes still closed… west side trail to lake still remains an unnavigable snowy wasteland. Thursday may be best to chill. ‘

East side Alturas rolled…

On Tuesday, the ski trails to the east of Alturas Lake Creek were rolled. More grooming there on Wednesday.

Shut the front door!

With new snow, storm warnings and temperatures above freezing, skiing is not recommended at the Alturas Lake Ski Area today. Most trails were compacted at Park Creek on Monday so some less than perfect skiing may be possible there if you arrive before the next storm. No promises.

After two days of grooming deep snow drifts, ski trails to the East of Alturas Lake Creek were transformed from a powdery snowy wasteland into quite serviceable trails groomed for skate and classic. Trails to the west of the creek were still buried. Snowfall continues…
