The annual Sawtooth Ski Trail Cleanup Event was a success once again. This year, after the Wapiti fire swept through the Park Creek ski area, Forest Service and fire fighting crews cleared the trails there, removing over 200 downed and leaning trees blocking the way.
On Sunday, October 27th, ski club members met at the Alturas ski trail parking area armed with gloves, chain saws, hand saws, and brush loppers. The clean up took about 3 hours. This year there weren’t too many downed trees at Alturas but we still wandered about and buffed out the trails! A celebratory picnic at the Alturas Lake Inlet was well attended and lots of fun. The pretty girl from the village brought a pot full of chili and others contributed baked goods, salads and libations. A pack of hounds provided entertainment of a sort. Thanks everyone.
