CATS UNDER A COLD MOON

On Tuesday, the 29th of December, trails at Park Creek and Alturas Lake were groomed for your enjoyment.

A cold cold monday follows a gorgeous sunday after a snowy friday and saturday…what next?

On Sunday the 27th, all trails at Alturas Lake were groomed for skate and classic except for North Cabin. The sunshine and good trails were enjoyed by many. After being groomed, classic tracks were well formed and skate lanes were wide but a bit soft. On Monday, the temperature never climbed much above 5 degrees fahrenheit and further grooming was put off until at least Tuesday (unless the bitter cold snap persists).

NEW SNOW ON SKI TRAILS ROLLED

On December 26th, over half a foot of snow was rolled flat at the Alturas and Park Creek ski areas. With more snow falling, additional grooming is scheduled for the 27th. At Alturas, North Cabin Creek Trail is flooded along the creek so we advise you find your own route around the flood (easier said than done) or better yet, choose another trail.

Alturas Trails groomed for the holidays…

You better not cry and you better not pout! I’ll tell you why – its cuz’ the Sawtooth ski trails are groomed for Christmas. At Alturas Lake all trails were groomed on Wednesday for skate and classic except for North Cabin which was groomed without classic tracks. At Park Creek grooming took place on Wednesday as well. More grooming there planned for Christmas eve day.

BE HERE NOW, SKI HERE NOW

On December 22nd, the first anniversary of the death of Ram Dass, trails at Alturas lake were ginzu groomed, compacting a few inches of new snow over a sheet of ice base. More grooming scheduled for the 23rd.
