Mixed bag…

On Wednesday, the 29th, all trails at Alturas lake were groomed. The trail from the bridge to the lake and North Cabin were double rolled. At the frozen lake a blue heron and a bald eagle were spotted. No lake songs were heard. All trails to the west of the creek were ginzu groomed. Snow conditions are still a bit to soft for good skating. At Park Creek one our grooming snowmobiles is stuck in deep snow against some downed logs… working on that.

Snowed in…..

Trails at Park Creek and Alturas Lake were rolled over the weekend but were rapidly blowing back in. Some grooming may resume on Monday at Alturas. with a break in the weather and if road out to old Groomer Davinius gets plowed. At Park Creek, Thaddeus Maximus was going to rock and roll one more time before handing duties back to star groomer Aaron who has happily recovered from his holiday illness. We recommend patience to eager skiers who have been thwarted be the stormy weather.

Park Creek packed…

On Christmas Day, Santa stand-in Thaddeus Maximus helped save Park Creek trails from the continued onslaught of wind and snow during groomer Aaron’s sick leave. He packed Sego and Larkspur with the snowmobile and packed and rolled Lupen, Shooting Star and Camas. He has plans to do more thre on Sunday. Wind also blew through Alturas trails Saturday so grooming is planned there as well.

Merry Christmas…

On the day before Christmas, all trails at Alturas Lake were rolled, through 6 or more inches of new snow. Expect soft trails. At Park Creek, famous former groomer Thaddeus Maximus has volunteered to repack lost trails on Christmas Day. Sorry, but at best you can expect primitive snowmobile tracked trails.

Trying to do our best…

Park Creek hit with double whammy…. Blowing snow covers all trails as groomer falls sick…. Hoping for a speedy recovery..
At Alturas, all trails packed out on Thursday with more grooming Friday.
