ALL TRAILS GROOMED

On Saturday, the 30th, all trails at Park Creek and Alturas Lake were groomed for skate and classic… more grooming scheduled for Sunday.

SPACE LASERS TARGET SAWTOOTH VALLEY SKIERS!!

Adam, the first man of Park Creek grooming reports that he was out grooming on Thursday. There wasn’t much new snow but a lot of drifting. He mostly worked on leveling out the trails. He’ll be back out Friday afternoon and Saturday and should have all the trails groomed with tracks by Saturday afternoon. At Alturas Lake, Chadeus Maximus rolled all trails through deep snow on Thursday. Davinius will take over on Friday afternoon and after that, who knows? Expect soft trails after this week’s storms and please exercise caution after reports of space laser attacks on unsuspecting skiers.

Alturas trails quite good…but

Trails at Alturas Lake were again groomed on Saturday, the 23rd. A foggy morning moved into a bright sunny day. Skate lanes were widened on some trails and the skiing in general was quite good… but… some of the classic tracks were less than “classic” as the hard snow base resisted deep groove formation. More trail work scheduled for Sunday.

“No man is an island…he’s a peninsula.” – Jefferson Airplane

Alturas trails were last groomed on Wednesday, January 20th. Further grooming is scheduled for Friday the 22nd and Saturday the 23rd – the birthdays of poets John Donne and Derek Walcott.

“No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. If a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as if a manor of thy friend’s or of thine own were: any man’s death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bells tolls; it tolls for thee.” – John Donne

“The time will come when, with elation, you will greet yourself at your own door, in your own mirror, and each will smile at the other’s welcome.” – Derek Walcott.

SKI TRAILS OPEN NEW DIMENSIONS

On Sunday, the 17th of January, ever stoic Chadeus Maximus and first man Adam, the ski club’s most excellent groomers, pushed the corduroy and classic tracks at Alturas Lake and Park Creek to new heights. All trails were groomed for skate and classic and were once again aptly described as most enchanting and otherworldly.
