Progress on all fronts…

On Tuesday, all trails east of Alturas Lake Creek were ginzu groomed for skate and classic and looked fabulous. At Park Creek, a badly stuck snowmobile groomer was freed from winter’s grip on a steep snowy hill and returned to service. Grooming there on Wednesday.

On Saturday, all trails to the east of Alturas lake creek were groomed with the Ginzu groomer. The trail to the lake from the bridge to the lake was double rolled. At Park Creek, Camus and Shooting Star were groomed.
On Sunday, blowing wet snow ruled all open meadow areas at both ski areas.
On Monday grooming was scheduled for Alturas trails. ‘

The ski trails at Alturas Lake are looking almost like the real thing. After a grooming session on Thursday, the Trail to the Lake is still rough but suitable for touring. On the highway side of the creek, directional signs are up, the toilet has arrived, maps and doggie bags are available, and all trails have been rolled with a bit of nice corduroy on and some classic tracks. Achtung! Trails are still soft.
At Park Creek, Aaron has begun beating things into shape with a rough grooming of Shooting Star your best bet for a tour.

On December 16th, the Alturas Ski Trails are all compacted and rolled. Signs are not out yet but the bulletin board has arrived with maps and the ever popular blue room is ordered and on the way. Ginzu grooming may begin today if everything goes well.
