Snow begins to fall on freshly groomed trails…

All trails at Alturas lake and Park Creek ski areas we rolled with corduroy over the last two days. The skiing.should be fine for a bit as new falling snow heralds the appearance of a new winter storm. The national weather service has warned that you may want to stay home and play with your toys there.

Broken drive shaft, screwed up gear box, eclipse of mars, another blizzard on the way, uncorrectable website typos, and other problems you don’t need to hear that keep Davinius awake at night.

And now the good news … Park Creek trails are looking great! Trail compaction and rolling begins again at Alturas as back up snow-mo thrown into service. Broken snowmobile arrives at shop for repair. New tracked grooming ATV’s almost ready for delivery. Red planet reappears! Mother Nature rules! ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE!

Help on the way…

At Park Creek all trails have been rolled but are still rather soft. Ginzu grooming is scheduled to follow soon as our rookie groomer there learns the ropes from old grooming top dog Thaddeus.
At Alturas Lake we have contacted an legendary woodsman and local hero who very kinky responded immediately to our “Beck” and call, and is at this very moment on his way to retrieve our broken down. snowmobile and haul it to the shop. We hope to dig up an interim replacement machine Wednesday and get back to it. Davinius has been reminded that it is still very early in our season, that things usually work out fine and that he should not lose any more sleep worrying about it.

Holy smokes Batman, what do we do now?

Upon further investigation of our mysterious Kapow!!! snowmobile shut down, it does not appear to be a broken belt but something more serious that will necessitate moving the machine into a shop for service. We are working on getting a replacement groomer to Alturas but for the immediate future the trails are covered with 5 inches of new snow.
