Light My Fire! Thanks Prometheus!

On January 6th, the feast of the Epiphany and of the Theophany, which celebrate the revelation of divinity on our human plane, that old pagan groomer Davinius began his day with a breakfast of liver and eggs in front of a blazing wood stove… his way of honoring the divine Titan Prometheus who brought the gift of fire to mortals so many eons ago and paid dearly for it. Once he warmed up, Davinius was going to check on some ginzu grooming knives that were still acting up and perhaps set some classic tracks.
Over the weekend, Adam and Chad had been keeping up with continued snowfall as best they could at Alturas and Park Creek ski areas. Adam also planned to groom some today. Skiing should be pretty good on all trails but expect to find some new snow out there.

HEAD OVER HEELS…

On Friday at Alturas Lake, all trails to the east of the creek were ginzu groomed and directional signs were added to the trails. One couple, skimming along on the fresh corduroy said it was the best ski day of their entire lives. Davinius, falling head over heels for the pretty girl from the village replied, “Yeah, mine too!”

Alturas Snowmen Stage Violent Ski Trail Protest

After 5 to 6 inches of snow fell at Park Creek on Wednesday, Adam, still the first man of grooming, rolled everything out that afternoon, returning on Thursday to set classic tracks and groom everything but larkspur. He plans to finish things up Friday and put out trail markers.
8 to 10 inches of new snow fell at Alturas lake and on Thursday, the second of January, all cross country ski trails were double rolled and looking great. However, things there turned ugly when a angry mob of snowmen, protesting the day’s massive compaction of snow, gathered outside the home of old groomer Davinius. He was forced to arm himself with two hand held hair driers for his own protection and vowed that grooming would continue on Friday, even as a volley of snowballs was hurled in his direction. When will this madness end?

HAPPY NEW YEAR

On New Year’s eve afternoon, Davinius rolled North Cabin Creek Trail at Alturas lake, along with Over the Hill and Wapiti. Later that evening, he himself was rolled and his umbrella stolen in a vicious snow man mugging. Over night and through the first day of 2020 snow fell continuously.

ALTURAS TRAILS GINZU GROOMED
